PowerUp Electric Paper Airplanes and Extend Your Flying Times

December 05, 2013 by Power Pulse1595211359

Dramatically extend the loft and distance of your home-made paper airplanes with the PowerUp Electric Power Module from TailorToys L.L.C.. Using a powerful propeller attached to a durable carbon fiber shaft, the PowerUp can create flights lasting up to two minutes long and traveling hundreds of yards. The simple clip-on design will fit onto nearly any paper airplane. Once attached, press the small hand-held charger into the nose of the power module for up to 20 seconds. The propeller will start spinning upon contact and once it's up to maximum speed, the plane is ready for take-off. PowerUp is available on-line for a price under $20.

Each kit includes a storage case, instructions, power module, charging unit, and spare propeller. Requires 3 AA batteries (not included). One set of batteries will provide over fifty fully charged flights, but it is necessary to wait two minutes in between charges. Features and specifications include: Dimensions are 8.5" x 1.75" x 0.75"; Materials are Fiber carbon composite and ABS plastic; Up to 2 minutes of free flight time; Charges in 20 seconds; Tosses can travel hundreds of feet; Includes 1 spare propeller; Requires 3 AA batteries (not included); Uses 8.5x11 or A4 printer paper (not included).

The PowerUp Electric Power Module is made from a tough fiber carbon composite in order to withstand the occasional rough landing. It is recommended that the PowerUp fly only in grassy fields. Avoid asphalt and concrete. The clip-on power module will attach to nearly any paper airplane design. The only restriction is that the design must be shorter than 8 inches. Other than that, designers are free to flex their imagination when it comes to their aerogami.

Prior to takeoff, dock the charger nose into the front receptacle of the power module and the propeller will spin to life. Listen carefully. When the prop is at its highest pitch, give the aircraft a gentle toss and watch it take to the skies. Depending on wind and weather conditions, the PowerUp is known to create flights of up to two minutes in duration.

“During our extensive testing (which did eventually devolve from serious scientific study to grown men acting like children on Christmas Day), we found the PowerUp to be extremely easy to use and powerfully addictive. However, due to the size of the field we were in (only about 1.5 acres), our flights typically ended after about 30 seconds when the PowerUp would inevitably hit a tree or a car (sorry, neighbors!). Keep in mind that it may take a bit of practice to achieve those long 2-minute flight times, but it's definitely a possibility!” stated one on-line reviewer.
