PowerSecure Awarded First Distributed-Generation Project

May 31, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Metretek Technologies Inc. (Melbourne, FL) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, PowerSecure Inc. (Denver, CO), has been awarded its first distributed-generation project for the retail marketplace. The project, which will consist of seven generators at five retail locations, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2001. The five locations that were awarded are part of a retailing giant that has more than 1,000 locations in North America.

“While the customer will not be installing distributed-generation systems at all locations, we believe there is a significant opportunity to win additional business with this customer as well as with other similarly situated retail operations,” said Sidney Hinton, president and CEO of PowerSecure. “This award was made possible in large part by our recent acquisition of Industrial Automations Corp. (Greensboro, NC), through which we acquired a system configuration that is particularly well-suited for the retail market.
