Power Integrations Intros New PI Expert Software

March 10, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Power Integrations Inc. (San Jose, CA), a leader in power conversion semiconductor technology, introduced a new generation of power supply design tools, delivering shorter design times for switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) built with scalable power conversion integrated circuits. The PC-based software, PI Expert Suite version 5.0, automates the design of flyback, forward converter and buck topology power supplies, and utilizes an intuitive user interface and new productivity-enhancing features.

The new PI Expert Design Software version includes an improved user interface, a new Design Wizard that guides the user to the best circuit topology and Power Integrations device family to fit the power supply requirements. It also adds an interactive schematic diagram featuring GUI circuit blocks for ease of user modification, a design navigation tree for simultaneously browsing multiple designs, and new design forms to determine resistor values to implement over-voltage and under-voltage protection and to set external current limit.

PI Expert Suite version 5.0 is offered free of charge and is available immediately as a download from the company’s website.
