October 08, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Royal Philips Electronics (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) announced the opening of the Philips Delft Design Center in Delft, the Netherlands, a cooperative venture with the Delft University of Technology. The new center will focus on analog semiconductor technology research and will provide a learning environment for future generations of electronics engineering students. The Philips Design Center will have three permanent Philips employees dedicated to design work who will work alongside three professors from the Delft University.

Design engineers from the US, France and the Netherlands will be able to rotate through the center, working with both the university and local analog contractors. Philips expects to eventually have 30 full-time employees in the center within the next three to five years.
