O2Micro Files Patent-Infringement Action

O2Micro International Ltd. (Santa Clara, CA) has filed a patent-infringement complaint in the Eastern District of Texas against Sumida Corp. (Japan) and Taiwan Sumida Electronics Inc. (Taiwan).

"O2Micro indicated in its last quarterly conference call that the company would focus on intellectual property protection and take aggressive action against infringers," stated Sterling Du, chairman and CEO of O2Micro. "We believe that patent litigation is necessary to protect our technology and recoup lost profits and other damages."
