Murata & Lineage Power Sign Licensing Agreement For Tunable Loop™ Products

March 02, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Murata Power Solutions has signed a new licensing agreement for Lineage Power’s Tunable Loop™ products. The agreement between the two companies will enable Murata to manufacture and offer two product series that feature the new technology.

In a rapidly developing market for point-of-load (PoL) power, the Tunable Loop feature allows users to optimize the dynamic response of a PoL to match the customer’s specific load requirements. Specifically, it facilitates the ability to start into highly capacitive loads which is a key performance need for a modern dc-dc converter. This reduces the quantity, type and size of the capacitors required for any given application. The company claims that the technology also enables a high level of product consolidation and offers cost and performance advantages over alternative solutions and technologies.

Commenting on the signing of the licensing agreement, Rob Hill, Vice President – Global Product Development, Murata Power Solutions, said, "Tunable Loop represents an important step in PoL power. This licensing agreement will enable Murata Power Solutions to utilize its global market reach and technical competence to bring the benefits of products that incorporate the technology to the widest possible engineering audience."

"We have elected to share our IP with high-quality, reliable delivery partners who also see innovation as a path to creating more value for our customers," said Niklas Fallgren, VP and GM of DC/DC OEM Power at Lineage Power.
