MTI Micro's Michael Adler Becomes IEEE President

Senior Technical Advisor Dr. Michael Adler of MTI MicroFuel Cells Inc. (Albany, NY), a subsidiary of Mechanical Technology Inc., has been named president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) for 2003. Adler is an expert in power electronic devices, power electronic systems, control systems and high-density electronic assemblies, and has published more than 100 technical papers in these areas. Adler is also a research professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

Adler served on the IEEE Board of Directors from 1996-1997 and 1999-2000, and held other top positions within the organization, including Vice President of Technical Activities, Vice President of Publications Activities and Chair of the Transnational Committee. He was the recipient of the IEEE 2000 Third Millennium Medal and the IEEE 2000 Electron Devices Society Distinguished Service Award and was named an IEEE Fellow.
