MicroPlanet Gains UL Certification for Voltage Regulators

July 17, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

MicroPlanet, a provider of smart grid technology, announced that it has received Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification for two of its next generation voltage regulators. Additionally, the company has delivered its patented technology devices to new utility and commercial customers.

The company has received UL certification for two of its commercial next generation voltage regulators. These regulators include all of the enhancements, data, and communications features the company has been working on the past year. UL certification is required for commercial and residential installations on customer premises in North America and demonstrates that MicroPlanet technologies are designed and manufactured with parts and processes that deliver maximum safety.

"The UL certifications we recently received are an important milestone for MicroPlanet," commented Brett Ironside, President and CEO. "We have added important products to our line and this opens the door to meeting specific demands expressed by commercial customers. Until this time other than prototype units we have not obtained these certifications and sales were more R & D focused to only government and utility customers managing their own infrastructure and not requiring these certifications. We are continuing to work on final development and certification for several other product line extensions that will increase the scope of applications and jurisdictions our technology can provide solutions for."
