Linear Technology Announces Company Reorganization

Linear Technology Corp. (Milpitas, CA) recently announced a reorganization intended to direct the company's growth from $500 million in sales to $1 billion and beyond. As part of the reorganization, co-founder and CEO Bob Swanson will also become Chairman of the board of directors. Clive Davies, who has been with Linear Technology for 17 years, has been named president, and Lothair Maier has been named Chief Operating Officer. The company has also divided into four business units for the development and introduction of new products: Power Products, which will cover DC-to-DC converters, regulators and other power management devices; Signal Conditioning Products, largely amps, filters and references; Mixed Signal Products, covering analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters and interface products; and High Frequency Products, which primarily represents a product development activity. Each unit has their own general manager and their own dedicated design engineers, test engineering, applications engineering, product engineering and product marketing staffs. Each business unit reports to Davies, who is also responsible for execution of corporate strategies including manufacturing, corporate marketing and worldwide sales.
