October 19, 2015 by Jeff Shepard

Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) teamed with Samsung to deliver wireless charging for its Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 smartphones, wireless charger, and Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch charging pad. The highly-flexible IDT technology includes all of the semiconductor hardware and associated software required to support mobile devices to be charged without a wired connection. IDT also joined with Samsung for the Galaxy S6 wireless charger.

"We have worked closely with Samsung to ensure the company's latest consumer products deliver the high-quality wireless charging experiences consumers are coming to expect," said Mario Montana, IDT vice president and chief sales officer. "Among their many other noteworthy features, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5 and Gear S2 now boast the latest in wireless power technology for ease of use and convenience."

The latest IDT ICs used in Samsung products are highly programmable with built-in microprocessor cores, supporting Samsung's customization of its own unique features such as fast charge, first on Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5, coupled with Samsung's wireless charger. This feature enables users to charge the Galaxy S6 edge+ or Galaxy Note5 device up to about 1.5X faster than legacy wireless charging solutions.

In addition to providing wireless power technology to global leaders like Samsung, IDT recently introduced wireless power kits that enable electronics companies of any size to easily integrate wireless charging capabilities into their product design, like the compact Samsung Gear S2 charging pad.
