Hydrogenics Commercializes HyPM 10 Power Module

November 03, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Hydrogenics Corp. (Toronto, Canada), a designer and manufacturer of fuel cell technology, announced that it has standardized the commercial design of its 10kW HyPM fuel cell power module, which will enable the company to manufacture the unit in greater numbers at lower cost.

The focus of standardizing the HyPM 10 design is to drive pilot production of Hydrogenics' HyPM product line. The phased commercialization enables customers to order multiple units for immediate delivery. Hydrogenics' HyPM power modules are integration-ready power generators with a fuel cell stack that require only hydrogen fuel to produce clean dc electrical power.

"This first phase of power module commercialization is an exciting step for Hydrogenics," said Pierre Rivard, president and CEO of Hydrogenics. "Leveraging our strength in fuel cell test platforms, we have used the best verification tools available to prove HyPM 10's durability. We are now able to offer the HyPM 10 at an attractive price point for early adopter applications in the telecom, industrial, aerospace, military and light mobility markets. To that end, we are working with system integrators and OEMs to integrate this platform into their products and projects. We expect this model to appeal to numerous customers as the uses for hydrogen fuel cells expand."
