GE Energy to Supply Solar Equipment for Pardee Homes

February 06, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

GE Energy (Atlanta, GA), a leading supplier of power generation and energy delivery technology, announced that Pardee Homes has selected GE's solar energy equipment for use in the Evergreen residential development, which is part of a new California village that will be the largest solar-powered community in the United States.

Pardee Homes’ Evergreen community is located in Terramor Village, one of six villages that will be part of Ladera Ranch, an 8,100-home development being built in South Orange County. Installation is anticipated to be completed in late 2005, and the combined solar-electric systems in the Evergreen community are rated at 40 kW and are expected to create 59,000 kWh of sun-generated power annually.

When fully built, Terramor Village will have 1,260 homes, with nearly 500 powered by solar energy. More than 75% of Terramor’s homes sited for solar will use GE equipment capable of generating more than 600 kW and nearly 889,000 kWh annually – making Terramor Village the nation’s largest solar community.
