FuelCell Energy Inc. shipped a 250kW Direct FuelCell (DFC) power plant to the Mercedes-Benz facility in Tuscaloosa, AL. The power plant will tie into the existing power-distribution system of the Mercedes plant and provide project participants with operating experience and data. It will also serve as a demonstration of the clean and efficient operation of DFC power plants.
Project participants in the commercial field trial of the DFC include Southern Co., Alabama Municipal Electric Authority, Alabama Power, Mercedes-Benz US and FuelCell Energy.
