The US FuelCell Propulsion Institute (Denver, CO) announced that its fuel cell mine locomotive passed its final test procedure in Reno, NV, and has successfully completed the Mine-Locomotive Project, which received funding from the US Department of Energy (Washington, DC). The locomotive will continue service under the Institute's Mine-Loader Project. The locomotive is the first piece of underground equipment to be powered by fuel cells.
