Eaton Acquires CSCI Power Systems Business

January 08, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Eaton Corp. (Cleveland, OH) announced that it has purchased the power systems business of Commonwealth Sprague Capacitor Inc. (North Adams, MA). The power systems business includes power-factor correction systems and harmonic filters, which are products used for power quality and energy management applications. The purchase price was $6 million, approximately the same as the 2002 sales volume of the power systems business.

"This acquisition allows Eaton's electrical business to expand its growing energy management and power quality business with the addition of well-established Commonwealth Sprague low-voltage and medium-voltage product offerings," said Randy Carson, senior vice president and group executive for Industrial and Commercial Controls. "These products enable customers to upgrade their power reliability and reduce their facility energy costs, thereby improving profitability."
