DuPont and APFCT to Target e-Scooter Market

January 28, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

DuPont Fuel Cells (Wilmington, DE) and DuPont Taiwan Ltd. announced that they have signed definitive agreements with Asia Pacific Fuel Cell Technologies (APFCT) to commercialize proton-exchange membrane fuel cells for the Taiwan electric scooter market. Terms of the agreement include APFCT's exclusive use of DuPont fuel cell components, including membrane-electrode assemblies and conductive plates. Other terms were not disclosed.

"This agreement with APFCT reinforces the DuPont commitment to drive fuel cell technology toward early commercialization," said David Peet, global business director for DuPont Fuel Cells. "With a large scooter market in Taiwan and a strong interest by the government and business community in advancing alternative energy technologies, we believe this agreement has the focus and commitment behind it to be successful."

The companies anticipate the first commercialization of fuel-cell-powered scooters in Taiwan by 2005.
