Digi-Key Electronics Launches Marketplace for U.S. Customers
Electronic components distributor Digi-Key has introduced a “marketplace” to help power electronics manufacturers distribute their products faster and to help engineers gain access to millions of products.
Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Electronics recently launched a new marketplace to house products sold by its base of 1,300 manufacturing partners. The Digi-Key Marketplace offers millions of components and other products all in one place, making it easier for U.S. customers to order PCBs, single board computers and test equipment, and receive shipments in less than a week.

One of the largest electronic component distributors in North America, the Minnesota-based company says more than 300,000 products are already listed on the platform from an array of supply partners.
Digi-Key’s New Marketplace
With this new marketplace, Digi-Key will continue to expand its offerings to industries such as the power electronics market, while tapping into emerging markets such as industrial automation and IoT solutions.
Jim Ricciardelli, executive vice president of Digi-Key’s digital business, said the new marketplace “gives engineers and innovators across the U.S. access to more product lines than ever before” and that the company is planning to expand into “more and more adjacent product categories available with a full-service, one-stop shopping experience to serve the entire ecosystem of technology innovation."
Items offered through the Digi-Key Marketplace will contain a “marketplace product” label on the company’s website. After the customer places an order, the supplier will ship the product(s) in a timeframe of one to five days. Individual suppliers set the cost of shipping.
While items on the new marketplace are currently only available in the U.S., Digi-Key says it plans to expand internationally in the months to come.
From Supplier to Engineer
The new Digi-Key Marketplace is an expansion of the company’s existing supply service, offering more than 10 million items sold by a network of 1,300 manufacturing partners such as Siglent, an electronic test and measurement manufacturer and Rochester Electronics, a semiconductor distributor and manufacturer.

The Marketplace is currently offering semiconductor products from board-mounted power supplies to power converters and drivers.
Additionally, the site hosts a variety of battery-related components and magnetic products in the Marketplace’s passives section.
Expanding Digi-Key’s Services
The company recently launched several initiatives aiming to streamline its online purchasing processes for the end customer.
Just last week, Digi-Key announced a partnership with EAO Corporation to create a Digital Product Selector tool that lets engineers configure emergency stop switches in a virtual interface.
And in June, the company launched a printed circuit board builder tool to help customers get access to the right PCBs for their prototyping projects.
