DaimlerChrysler Offers Jeep Treo Concept

December 01, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

DaimlerChrysler AG (Auburn Hills, MI) announced its new Jeep Treo Concept three-passenger, off-road vehicle, which is designed to run on fuel cell technology. The power plant fits under the Treo, and the traditional front end, found on most current cars, has been lopped off by designers. This concept car is not yet operational.

Eight small glass windows in the front provide a startling view of the road as it rushes toward the driver. Backseat passengers are encased in a bubble of glass providing a panoramic view. The lateral fins on the side not only house taillights, but also allow two mountain bikes to be connected to the Treo for easy hauling. If put into production, the Jeep Treo would employ drive-by-wire, steer-by-wire, and brake-by-wire technology.
