Bourns Completes First Phase of Murata Trimmer Transition

September 26, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Bourns, Inc. has completed the first phase of the transition of Murata® trimmer products. Bourns announced earlier this year that it would acquire specific assets of Murata's product line. To ease the conversion to Bourns-manufactured replacement products, Murata granted Bourns permission to continue to use its original part numbers. Bourns will continue to manufacture the acquired trimmer products to Murata specifications, and the company will honor its standard warranty terms on replacement products based on Murata specifications.

Bourns invented the world's first trimming potentiometer, trademarked Trimpot®. Today, Trimpot® Trimming Potentiometers are the industry standard, and are valuable design tools used to perform accurate circuit adjustments in a wide range of electronic equipment in virtually every market around the world. Bourns regularly increases the number of physical configurations available and continually looks for ways to enhance Trimpot® product designs to help withstand changing manufacturing environment demands. These efforts provide customers with additional design flexibility in selecting the optimal Trimpot® device for a particular application.

The following former Murata® models are available now from Bourns: PV12P Series, PV12T Series, PV32 Series, PV36 Series, PV37 Series, PVG5 Series, and PVF2 Series. Additional Murata® trimmer products will be available from Bourns in the coming months as Murata continues to transfer the remaining production assets to Bourns.
