AstroPower Teams with Pardee Homes to Offer Solar-Electric Power

July 01, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

AstroPower Inc. (Newark, DE) announced that it has formed an alliance with Pardee Homes Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) to offer solar-electric power as a feature in its new-home construction. The alliance has established a goal of building a total of 200 solar-powered homes over the next two and one-half years.

Pardee will offer its homebuyers AstroPower's SunUPS packaged solar-electric power system with battery backup. Home-owners can also choose AstroPower's SunLine system, which offers the same packaged components of the SunUPS system without the continuous power option.

"By incorporating solar power into its new home construction, Pardee is enabling homebuyers to produce a portion of their own electricity," said Bob Ruggio, AstroPower's manager of residential sales. "This gives homeowners more control over their electricity bills. Solar power is a tremendous value, and Pardee is committed to bringing this value to its homebuyers."
