Advanced Battery Named as Qualified Manufacturer in China

June 21, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Advanced Battery Technologies Inc. (ABAT, Harbin, China), a manufacturer of rechargeable polymer lithium-ion (PLI) batteries, announced that the Coal Mine Safety Regulation Bureau of China has sent an official notice to all provincial-level coal mine safety regulation bureaus to enforce the implementation of the new mine-use lamp safety standard GB 7957-2003, that was approved by the Chinese government in June of last year.

Under the new standard, Advanced Battery's subsidiary, ZhongQiang PowerTech, is one of 17 qualified mine-use lamp manufacturers in China. Of these 17 manufacturers, only Advanced Battery has a PLI battery that is qualified under the new standard. The company estimates that the enforcement of the new regulation will generate a mine-use lamp replacement market of more than $120 million annually.
