#10: SMT Current-Sense Transformers with Wide Range of Turns Ratios

TDK Corporation presents two new series of EPCOS SMT current sense transformers for power electronics. The various types in the B78417A series are based on EP7 ferrite cores, have compact dimensions of just 10.6mm x 12.2mm x 11.0mm and are designed to measure pulse currents of up to 20A. The maximum dc resistance on the primary winding is 1.9mΩ. The SMT current sense transformers in the B78419A series are designed with EP10 ferrite cores. These components have dimensions of 12.8mm x 13.6mm x 14.4mm and their measurement range extends up to 30A. The dc resistance is just 0.5mΩ. More.

#9: Thin-film Metal Inductors for Automotive Power Supplies

TDK Corporation has expanded its portfolio of compact thin-film metal power inductors with a new type designed for demanding automotive applications. Measuring 2.0mm x 1.6mm x 1.0mm, the new TDK TFM201610ALMA thin-film metal power inductor claims the world's highest rated current of 1.9A for a power inductor of its size. Its rated inductance is 2.2µH. Despite its miniature dimensions, the component provides a low dc resistance of 152mΩ. More.

#8: 600V Super-Junction MOSFETs Rated for 8A to 96A

Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. announced the release of its Super-Junction MOSFET "Super J MOS® S2/S2FD Series" as a new power semiconductor product. The S2 series has 25% reduced resistance during conduction, relative to the existing S1 series, in comparison with the same chip area. This will contribute to energy saving and power cost reductions for equipment in which the products are mounted. More.

#7: 90- to 528-V Input 3W AC-DC Power

Mornsun has released new 3W three-phase four-wire ac-dc converters in the LS03-16BxxSS and LD03-16Bxx series. The series offer 90- to 528-Vac wide input range, ac and ac dual-use (input from the same terminal) and requirements of 3x220Vac/380Vac nominal voltage and any two-wire connection from three-phase four-wire system, meeting UL60950/EN60950/FCC part 15 standards. More.

#6: 150A Digital Non-Isolated DC-DC Converters

Bellnix has added the BDP12-0.6S150R 150A point of load (POL) converters with PMBus capability. These POLs are designed to power FPGAs and ASSPs. With the use of PMBus commands the output voltage and both the start-up voltage ramp and turn-off voltage ramp can be set with the use of external components. In addition to setting operating parameters, the PMBus serial communication interface can be used to monitor POL functions. Up to three devices can be paralleled for higher-power applications. More.

#5: 650V / 5A SiC Schottky Barrier Diodes

Sanken Electric has expanded its lineup of SiC Schottky diodes. The new FMDA-10565 SiC Schottky is rated for 650V and 5A with a typical forward voltage drop of 1.5V at 25 degrees C. Taking advantage of the high speed switching capability of SiC, these diodes achieve reduced switching loss, and reduced reverse leakage current at high temperatures. At 25 degrees C, typical leakage current is 15 µA at a junction temperature of 150 degrees C, typical leakage current is 70 µA. More.

#4: 12V-Input DC-DC Delivers 240W of PoE-Compliant Power

Murata has announced the SPC-54/4.4-L12PG-C, which is designed to deliver isolated 54V Power over Ethernet (PoE) at up to 240W. This very compact SIP (single inline package) module can power up to nine PoE devices at 25.5W from a 12V source. More.

#3: 1700V SiC MOSFET Optimized for Industrial Converters

ROHM has recently announced the availability of a new 1700V SiC MOSFET, part number SCT2H12NZ, optimized for industrial applications, such as manufacturing equipment, high-voltage general-purpose inverters, auxiliary power supplies for high voltage (i.e. 400Vac) industrial equipment such as factory automation (robots), solar and industrial inverters, and manufacturing/testing devices. More.

#2: 200- to 1500-Vdc Input DC-DCs for PV Power Systems

Mornsun recently released new 15W and 40W power supply modules, PV15/PV40-29Bxx series, which provide ultra-wide 200- to 1500-Vdc input voltage, high isolation voltage of 4000Vac and can be used at high altitudes up to 5000m. The ultra-wide input voltage range makes these dc-dc converters suitable in a wider variety of designs from under 1,000Vdc system to emerging 1,500Vdc systems. Higher-voltage systems enable longer strings, which allow for fewer combiner boxes, less wiring and trenching, and therefore less labor. More.

#1: 1.2kV GaN Switch Handles over 20A

Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has developed the world's first 1.2kV class power semiconductor device capable of large current operation exceeding 20A. This was done using gallium nitride (GaN), a key material in blue LEDs, which has superior physical properties including the ability to withstand high voltages. More.
