Xilinx Announces Push for Power Management Devices

Xilinx Inc. (San Jose, CA) announced that it would officially make power management a priority and unveiled two new products to back up that claim. Xilinx announced the Spartan-3L product family, which provides customers with up to 98% quiescent power reduction that enables lower-cost cooling systems, smaller and less-expensive enclosures, and higher system reliability.

Xilinx also announced two new devices in the CoolRunner-II CPLD product family, the CoolRunner-IIA XC2C32A and XC2C64A, which are available in 32 and 64 macrocell densities and incorporate an additional I/O bank to support level translation and device interfacing. At the same time, they preserve the cost-optimized, low-power characteristics of the CoolRunner-II product line.
