October 01, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Xantrex Technology Inc. (Vancouver, BC) launched its Xantrex Datacom Inverter (XDI), which provides uninterruptible ac power to equipment connected to 48Vdc battery banks for telecom applications. The inverter is a compact, true sine-wave, 2,000VA inverter module rated for continuous duty that conveniently fits into standard 19in equipment racks.

The XDI features an ultra-high power density of 2kVA in a 1U rack, a rack-mounted backplane for dc input and ac output connectors, high-performance noise filters on both the input and output, dimensions of 1.7in x 16.8in x 15.7in (43.2mm x 426.7mm x 398.8mm), and a weight of 22lb (10 kg). The XDI is easily scalable by adding parallel-connected modules, and can be configured in N+1 single- or three-phase arrays for maximum reliability. An Ethernet option is also available and comes with the Ethernet port, Internet Protocol stack, and a web browser Graphical User Interface.

The XDI is available now and can be purchased worldwide through authorized Xantrex representatives.
