Vishay Intertechnology Debuts New Si9183DT LDO Regulator

January 02, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) debuted a new entry into its series of LDO regulators. The company claims that the new Si9183DT is designed to provide power to the signal-processing circuitry in digital cellular phones and computers.

Specified for input voltages between 2V and 6V, the Si9183DT is offered in seven low-noise versions with fixed output voltages from 1.5V to 5V. An adjustable output version, the Si9183DT-AD, is also available. The Si9183DT can be used with either ceramic or tantalum capacitors.

At a 150mA output current, typical dropout voltage for the Si9183DT is 120mV. Transient response is typically less than 2µs. The Si9183DT includes an on/off feature and includes built-in, short-circuit and thermal protection. It also provides ripple rejection, typically 60db. It is packaged in the five-pin SOT-23.

"Not only does the Si9183DT offer improved specifications compared with typical LDOs, it provides designers with the opportunities to obtain the complete bill of materials, including Vishay capacitors and resistors, from a single supplier," said Nitin Kalje, application engineer at Vishay Interntechnology.

Pricing for the Si9183DT is $0.35 each in 100,000-piece quantities. Samples are available now, with lead times of 10 to 12 weeks for larger orders.
