UNIPOWER Debuts TPCMQ48 Series Converters

May 06, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

UNIPOWER Corp. (Coral Springs, FL) announced its new TPCMQ48 Series of dc/dc converters, which produce 12Vdc at 54.2A or 24Vdc at 29.2A, with a nominal input voltage of 48Vdc and a wide range of 40Vdc to 60Vdc. The compact, self-cooled case is only 1.6in x 5in x 10in, resulting in up to 8.8W/in³ power density. The units are available as hot-swappable modules with a handle and retention bracket, or as chassis-mount versions. The converters have a single pluggable connector for input and output.

The converters are available with a compatible 1U, 19in rack that can accept up to three dc/dc modules for higher power or for N+1 redundant operation. The racks are only 12in deep and can also be paralleled with other fully loaded racks for added power. The converters can also be used on a stand-alone basis or built into a customer’s system. Other features include LED status indicators, staged pin engagement, an isolated 5Vdc/250mA standby output, active current sharing capability, an output ORing diode, and no minimum load requirement. The units also have monitoring and control signals such as output power-good, input power-fail, thermal warning, and enable and inhibit inputs.

The TPCMQ48 Series of dc/dc converter modules are priced as low as $420 and the 19in shelf is priced as low as $350. Availability is four to six weeks ARO.
