Ultra-Precision, Low TC Film Resistors Added by Caddock

April 27, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Caddock Electronics, Inc. has added the USF300 series of ultra-stable, low temperature coefficient (TC), ultra-precision film resistors developed for use in precision analog electronics applications. The USF300 series provides a resistance range of 50 Ohm to 25 Megohm. Over the range of -40°C to +85°C, these resistors feature a 5 ppm/°C, max. TC. The USF300 series is available in three models with (voltage and power ratings): USF340 (300V, 0.33W), USF370 (1,400V, 0.75W), USF371 (2,500V, 0.75W).

The USF300 series resistors are manufactured with an alumina (aluminum oxide) ceramic sandwich that offers stable thermal performance. The excellent thermal conductivity of the alumina sandwich construction provides good heat flow away from the resistor element minimizing the temperature rise in the resistor due to power dissipation as compared to "plastic package" low TC resistors.

The load life stability of the USF300 series is: 2,000 hours at full rated voltage/power at +85°C, %ΔR (+0.015% ±0.015%) max. and 10,000 hours at full rated voltage/power at +85°C, %ΔR (+0.030% ±0.030%) max.

USF300 series resistors are available in standard resistance values that are used in high accuracy, precision analog designs. Typical applications include amplifier gain setting, bridge circuits, weighing systems, strain gage circuits, reference resistors, and precision voltage dividers with input voltages up to 2,500 V.
