Tyco Electronics Introduces Dual Voltage Power System

September 30, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics announced the debut of the Infinity NE system. According to the company, the Infinity NE is a power system developed specifically to address the need to provide dual voltage power in a dynamic, changing environment.

The use of a "Universal" Power shelf allows provisioning of power in terms of the number of "slots" rather than in terms of individual power modules. Any of these slots can be used for 24 or 48V load requirements, rectifiers or dc-dc converters, ensuring that capacity is never "stranded" by changing needs. Selectable voltage distribution ensures there are sufficient distribution positions for each voltage. Two distinct platforms are available using this architecture, the NE-S for smaller applications and the NE-M for larger systems.

Key features of the Infinity NE-M include: up to 7 power shelves in a half height frame, full height frame or mini-frame – 4 power units per shelf – any power unit can be used in any shelf position; 1200A @48V or 1500A @24V Max; 80 Bullet Breaker Positions (optional "Selectable Voltage" positions); optional dc-dc converters and secondary voltage distribution; and optional LVLD.

Key features of the NE-S include: up to 4 power shelves in a half height frame, full height frame or mini-frame – 3 power units per shelf; 550A @48V or 825A @24V Max; 18 Bullet Breaker Positions per distribution panel (max 2); and optional LVLD.
