New Products Mar 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Components (Menlo Park, CA) Raychem Circuit Protection Division introduced its new TVAxxxSA Series of SiBar thyristor surge-protection devices. With a 30 percent smaller footprint than the existing TVBxxxSA Series devices, the new components are designed for network cards with increased port densities and help provide protection against power faults and lightning surges in customer premise equipment, central office, access network equipment and other intra-building communications applications.

The TVAxxxSA devices help designers meet UL1950 third edition and FCC Part 68 specifications and ITU-T K.20/21/45 standards for CPE, CO and access network equipment. Providing off-state voltage ratings of 170V, 200V and 250V, the devices are applicable for CPE equipment with maximum DC plus ringing voltages up to 270V peak. SiBar TVAxxxSA devices are rated at 50A.

Available now, the starting price is $0.30 each in volume, with a lead time of 8 to 10 weeks ARO.
