Tripp Lite Intros Unison SU1000RT & SU2200RT On-line UPS Systems

September 19, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Tripp Lite (Chicago) introduces new Unison true on-line UPS systems in the 1,000VA to 2,200VA range. Unison 1kVA, model SU1000RT (Rack/Tower), and 2.2kVA, model SU2200RT, UPS Systems allow users to utilize them in either rackmount or tower applications without additional expense. The SU1000RT and SU2200RT UPSs require only 2U rack space when used in rackmount applications. Included base stands convert these UPS for use in tower applications, ideal for protection of stand-alone equipment. Incoming utility voltage can drop to as low as 70V and still be regulated to computer-grade 120Vac +/-2 percent without the Unison resorting to battery power. The SU2200RT includes two outlet load banks that can be managed individually. In the event of a blackout, users can shut down power to one bank in order to boost runtimes of their most critical equipment. An external battery connector allows the addition of optional battery packs to extend runtimes as desired. A front-panel LED array displays battery charge and UPS load in 25 percent increments is well as 11 different operating conditions. An accessory slot on the SU1000RT and SU2200RT accepts an optional SNMP/Web card, allowing remote SNMP and web-based management of network UPS systems and environmental conditions. Both the SU1000RT and SU2200RT have built-in serial ports and PowerAlert Universal UPS Management Software included. PowerAlert Software provides a single graphical-interface of UPS systems network-wide and lets users react to alerts remotely, without having to purchase an expensive Network Management System (NMS). PowerAlert is claimed to be the only software that monitors and controls virtually all UPS systems on a network, regardless of manufacturer. The new UPSs are planned to debut from Tripp Lite in the third quarter of 1999. Suggested retail price for the SU1000RT is $799 and the SU2200RT is $1,599.
