May 31, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Threshold Corp. announced the new Threshold Power Control Module that is claimed to provide wireless ON/OFF control as well as sophisticated and precise energy measurement. Threshold’s new Power Control Module is targeted at manufacturers and other OEM customers who want to "go green" by adding wireless control and energy monitoring to their products.

Measuring only 1 x 2", Threshold’s new Power Control Module is small enough to be built into many different electrical devices such as power outlets, light switches, appliances, consumer electronics products, etc. Wireless control allows a device to be turned on and off remotely, and wireless data transmission allows for continuous remote monitoring and measurement of power consumption.

The Threshold Power Control Module is available in both 110 and 220V versions. It can handle up to 15A at 125V and up to 10A at 250V. The Power Control Module is also said to be extremely accurate and can measure from .1 to 2,500W with less than 0.1% Active Energy Error over a dynamic range of 1000:1.
