Tadiran Batteries Unveils TLM 1550 Lithium Battery

January 25, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Tadiran Batteries Ltd. (Israel) unveiled a new high-voltage/high-rate, AA-sized lithium battery designed for military and aerospace applications requiring high power, long life and extended storage, such as sonobuoys, unattended ground sensors, UAVs, listening devices, mines, weapons sights, tracking devices, night vision, thermal sights, EPIRBs, communications systems and other remote-sensing devices.

Packing 2 W of energy at 4 V into an AA-size cell, the new TLM 1550 features an open-circuit voltage of 4 V, and the ability to handle pulses of up to 15 A, with 5 A maximum continuous load. The battery offers long life in extreme environmental conditions, including a self-discharge rate of less than 3% per year at room temperature, and a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.
