SynQor Adds EML Series to PowerQor Mega Line
SynQor Inc. (Hudson, MA) introduced the addition of an eighth-brick-sized, isolated, dc/dc converter, the EML Series, to its PowerQor Mega Series, which can deliver up to 15A of total output current at 3.3V and below and 50W at 5V and above, without a heatsink. The new series is suitable for applications needing lower current and power levels, providing typical quarter-brick outputs in 40 percent less board space.
The EML Series features a 48V nominal input (35V to 75V range), measurements of 0.9in x 2.3in x 0.37in (22.9mm x 58.4mm x 9.5mm), and meets input-voltage transient requirements up to 100V for 100ms. The converters occupy only 60 percent of the board space of a standard quarter-brick, yet deliver full power up to 70 degress C with no airflow (2.5V and below). The EML Series will initially be offered at 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and 1.5V with additional output voltages of 1.2V and 5V being released shortly.
The EML series is currently offered with through-hole mounting and will also be available in a surface-mount configuration in the fourth quarter of 2002. The EML converter includes on/off control, voltage trim, remote sense, short circuit, output over-voltage protection, thermal shutdown and a 2,000Vdc isolation rating.
Sample quantities of the 3.3, 2.5V, 1.8V and 1.5V EML eighth-brick converters are available now and production volume shipments will begin in November 2002. The modules are priced at $42.50 in OEM quantities. Sample quantities for additional output voltages of 1.2V and 5V will be available in December 2002.
