SynQor Adds 8V Output to its Ultrawide Input Converters for Wireless Applications

February 12, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

SynQor has expanded its family of quarter bricks targeting wireless power amplifiers and other applications where 24V, 48V or 60V inputs are supplied to the same board. The 8V output PQ40080QGA09 Giga series has a 4:1 operating input voltage range of 18-75V, and is offered in the industry standard quarter brick footprint and pinout. Available output current is up to 9A.

The PQ40 Giga series converters use synchronous rectification and SynQor's patented topology to achieve extremely high efficiency, low power dissipation and greater reliability in a single board, open-frame package, company officials said. The exceptional performance of the device means that no derating is necessary at 24Vin, and full operation up to 70 C without derating is possible at 48Vin. Full operating temperature range is -40 C to +100 C.

The modules are capable of withstanding transients on the input to 100V for 100ms, and have a basic isolation level from input to output of 2000Vdc. Control and protection features include remote sense, voltage trim, input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output overvoltage protection (OVP), current limit, short circuit, and thermal shutdown. For those extended temperature applications needing direct contact to a thermal interface (such as an enclosed clamshell design), baseplated versions are also offered.

Sample and production quantities are available immediately with a stock to 8-week lead time. The modules are priced at $58 in original equipment manufacturer quantities.

SynQor serves the converging telecom and datacom markets with the PowerQor, DualQor, BusQor, and NiQor families of dc/dc converters.
