Supertex Debuts HV111 Power FET/Sensor IC

August 10, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Supertex Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) announced its new HV111 integrated, high-voltage, inrush-limiter/circuit-breaker/hot-swap IC for externally powered network equipment and pluggable backplane applications with loads up to 1.65A. Operating from -8V to -80V, the product requires no external components; eliminates the need for a sense resistor; incorporates an on-board thermal sensor; has three separate current-control algorithms; and includes an on-board 80V, 2A MOSFET.

Additional features include a "dead-short" detector to restrict excess power dissipation; 1.2A inrush current limiting with 75ms timeout for component protection; a 2A circuit breaker for over-current protection; and a high-voltage, open-drain PWRGD.

The HV111K4 is offered in a DPAK-5 package and is priced at $1.48 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
