Sprague-Goodman Electronics Adds Six Inductors to the Surfcoil GLY Series

August 06, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Sprague-Goodman Electronics Inc. (Westbury, NY) has added six new inductance values to the Surfcoil GLY Series of surface-mount SMT chip inductors. The inductors, which measure 1.6mm x 0.8mm, are offered in 29 different models with inductances from 1.0nH to 220nH.

Standard tolerance for inductors in the GLY Series is +/-5 percent, with +/-10.3nH for inductances from 1.0nH to 3.3nH. A tighter tolerance of +/-2 percent is available, with +/-0.2nH for inductances from 1.0nH to 3.3nH. The quality factor is high at microwave frequencies, with self-resonant frequencies of up to 6GHz.

The GLY Series of inductors are epoxy-encapsulated, and are made by laser-cutting a helix in copper deposited on an alumina core. The terminals have a solder-coat-over-nickel plating. They are packaged in 3,000-piece reels at $0.23 each in single-reel quantities. Delivery is quoted from stock to eight weeks.
