Sipex Presents New RS485 SP1485E Transceiver

Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA), a provider of high-performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), introduced a new half-duplex RS485 transceiver, the SP1485E, which features a data rate of 20Mbps with typical transmitter and receiver skews of only 2ns and 5ns, and propagation delays of 20ns and 30ns, respectively. Capable of driving as many as 32 transceivers on a bus and offering high ESD protection of ±15kV on I/O lines, the part is suitable for high-speed networking.

The SP1485E operates off of a single +5V supply and features fail-safe at the receiver inputs to guarantee logic high outputs when the receiver inputs are open. The SP1485E is available in both the commercial and extended temperature range, in eight-pin NSOIC and eight-pin PDIP packages. Samples are available now. Prices start at $1.75 for 1,000-piece quantities.
