Sipex Launches New SP8055 PDIC

Sipex Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced its new photo detector IC (PDIC), the SP8055, which is custom designed and represents Sipex’s first entry into the home entertainment segment of DVD recorders. The SP8055 offers eight high-speed, data-detection channels with two additional 140MHz summing channels. The device’s 12 gain settings provide versatile functionality for a multitude of low-speed and high-speed DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM applications.

The SP8055 features a 140MHz bandwidth; 12 selectable gain settings; >60dB PSRR; <10mV typical offset (gains 1-32); a 10ns typical settling time; a 2V output swing; fast saturation recovery times (<20ns); a -73dBm noise level (C-H); a -68dBm noise level (RF channels); and 16-pin clear COB packaging of 5mm x 4mm.
