Sierra-KD Components Premiers New Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

September 14, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Sierra-KD Components (Carson City, NV) introduced its line of space-quality, high-voltage, multilayer ceramic capacitors. The entire line is constructed from a high-density, low-loss X7R ceramic dielectric that is 100-percent Corona tested and exhibits no IR degradation over its design life. Designed for non-reparable applications, such as those found in the space and satellite markets, the capacitors come in 13 different styles ranging from 0.250" x 0.220" x 0.200" to 1.450" x 0.720" x 0.270", with lead spacing ranging from 0.170(S) to 1.375(S).

"These capacitors are specifically designed for systems that cannot be serviced once they are deployed, such as those found in the satellite and spacecraft markets," said John Horn, Sierra-KD Components' Sales and Marketing director. "With an established failure rate of 0.1 percent per 1,000 hours at a 90-percent confidence level, they offer extremely high reliability for industries that demand fail-safe parts."

The series of capacitors are offered with working voltages from 500Vdc to 10kVdc. Capacitance values range from a maximum of 2.20µf at 500Vdc to a maximum of 5600pF at 10kVdc. The capacitors are available immediately with prices starting at $3.25 in quantities of 1,000.
