Schaefer Introduces 45W DC-DC Converters For Railway Applications

September 17, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Schaefer, Inc. announced the ACR45 series of dc-dc converters, which provide 45W in a compact 2 x 2" board mountable package. Meeting the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock, these converters are suitable for railway and other transportation systems, as well as other demanding applications such as displays, lighting, control systems and passenger entertainment systems.

Input voltage ranges of 14.4-40 and 9-36Vdc are standard, with a range of 66-154Vdc in development. Single output voltages of 5, 12, 15, and 24Vdc are tightly regulated and can be trimmed +10/-20%. Low ripple & nose, parallel capability, remote on/off, remote sense, efficiencies to 89%, and a high MTBF are features of the ACR45 series. Comprehensive protection circuitry includes over voltage, over current and over temperature controls.

Resilient in design, the converters boast an operating temperature of –40 to +85°C and shock/vibration to EN61373 standards. The ACR45 series bears the CE Mark, is approved to EN60950-1, designed according to EN50155 standards, and meets EMC EN50121-3-2 and EN55011 standards.
