Rockwell Automation Launches Allen-Bradley 1609 UPS Line

Rockwell Automation Inc. (Milwaukee, WI) and American Power Conversion Corp. (APCC, West Kingston, RI) have teamed to create a new line of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products. The two companies designed and built the new Allen-­Bradley 1609 UPS line, creating a set of products specifically for use with programmable controllers, control panels and industrial devices with similar power demands.

The UPS units in the Allen-Bradley 1609 family are relatively small and lightweight — about the size of a loaf of bread and weighing approximately 26 lbs. The units can deliver 500 VA for up to nine minutes and can be mounted on a DIN rail located inside a control panel. To help save installation time, the mounting feature makes 1609 units compatible with the normal mounting scheme of a panel builder or OEM.

For network connectivity, the Allen-Bradley 1609 line of power supplies is equipped with both Ethernet and serial ports that can link to a LAN for remote monitoring, or communicate with an industrial PC using programs like RSView. The products can also link directly to a programmable controller via a relay connection.
