RC Electronics Releases Battery Watt Meter

November 02, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

RC Electronics Inc. (San Jose, CA), a developer of watt meters, power analyzers, battery chargers and speed controllers, debuted its "Watt's Up" battery watt meter, which provides the volts, amps, watts, watt-hour and amp-hour electrical measurement ranges. The "Watt's Up" battery watt meter automatically captures peak current values as well as minimum voltage values. The features are crucial for detecting some failure modes such as motor or ESC failure and battery health problems.

The meter offers 0.01 A, 0.01 V and 0.001 Ah measurement resolutions, over the full measurement range, and the power and current measurement ranges are broad and precise enough to measure from small receiver power consumptions up to large 6,000 W, 14-cell lithium polymer, parallel battery, motor power systems. The 6,500 Wh measurement range can measure the energy of lifting a 50 lb model into outer space (65 mi). While capable of 6,000 W, 100 A measurements, the "Watt's Up" is rated for 3,000 W (50 A) continuously. It measures 2.8 in x 1.7 in x 0.83 in.
