Raychem Debuts LVR Series PolySwitch Family

New Products May 12, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Raychem Circuit Protection (Menlo Park, CA), a unit of Tyco Electronics Power Components (Menlo Park, CA), announced the expansion of its LVR Series of PolySwitch® resettable devices. The new devices increase the maximum hold current rating from 400 mA to 550 mA, and help protect devices from damage caused by over-current and over-temperature fault conditions. The addition gives the LVR Series full coverage of applications up to 120 W at 220 Vac and 60 W at 120 Vac.

Designed for use in line voltage applications, the polymeric positive temperature coefficient devices are rated at 240 Vac, permitting maximum voltages of up to 265 Vac. The thermally active devices can help protect against both over-current and over-temperature faults on the primary side of power supplies and transformers.

The LVR devices are available in straight-lead or kinked-lead configurations, and can be supplied in tape-and-reel packaging for compatibility with high-volume assembly. Pricing starts at $0.25 each for 250,000-unit per year volumes. Samples are available now, and delivery lead-time is 10 weeks ARO.
