Push Button Load Switches Offer Deep Sleep Control

Torex Semiconductor Ltd. launched XC6193/XC6194, a new series of push button load switches. Power conservation and the need for longer operating times are significant issues for IoT and wearable devices. For this reason, Torex is proposing the use of XC6193/XC6194 to solve these problems.

This IC is a push button load switch that drastically reduces the power consumed during post-load wait and when power is off. It also allows the power to be shut down when a system freezes. These features contribute to device energy conservation and longer operating time.

When the main power supply is turned off to conserve power, the device power the microcomputer can enter the Deep Sleep Mode or can use the microcomputer and external components (discrete) to switch the power on and off. For this function, XC6193/XC6194 does not require external components, and just the IC is used to turn the power line on and off.

Additionally, when the device is stored for an extended period, the power line is shut down (OFF) following the shipment test of devices with built-in batteries. This shut down reduces power consumption significantly. The current consumed while in the power off state is just 1nA (TYP.)

When a system freeze occurs and you want compulsorily turn off the power, it cannot be accomplished with a device that turns the system (microcomputer) power on and off, but with this IC the system (microcomputer) can independently turn off the power.

In order to be used as large current load switch, the XC6193 Series employs an external Pch MOSFET in addition to the built-in high side switch. The XC6194 Series features a built-in PG (Power Good) terminal and has a built-in function for monitoring power startup.

These ICs are also equipped with an inrush current prevention, soft start function, and output short-circuit protection. The products are both RoHS compliant and lead-free.
