Powerex Module Targets Small Three-Phase Drives

April 04, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Powerex recently introduced its DIP-CIB, a low-profile, thermally efficient, transfer mold module used for speed control on small three-phase motors. The circuit is the standard converter inverter brake (CIB) structure common to small motor drives. The DIP-CIB is the designed for low profile, high performance and low cost solution for low current 120/220/460V motor drives.

The Powerex DIP-CIB is a standard module without the built-in gate drive and protection functions. Available in 600V and 1200V options, these modules are intended to be building blocks for both 220V and 460V drives. The DIP-CIB provides both flexibility and a low profile.

Utilizing the lowest profile package (only 5.7 mm thick) available on the market, the DIP-CIB also features a Carrier Stored Trench Gate Bipolar Transistor (CSTBT) chip technology for very low loss; an integrated NTC thermistor for over temperature protection; and it is fully Pb-free for RoHS compliance.

Sample quantities are available from stock to eight weeks with pricing ranging from $21.50 ~ $35.00 depending upon the rating selected.
