Power transformers are a further area of focus presented by the Cores and Components division of VACUUMSCHMELZE GmbH & Co. KG (Hanau) at this year's electronica in Munich from 11 - 14 November. The Hanau-based company will showcase transformers and cut cores from nanocrystalline VITROPERM® at its stand 119 in Hall B5.

VAC supplies customized transformers with toroidal tape-wound cores made from nanocrystalline VITROPERM for the transmission of outputs up to approx. 60kW. The use of VITROPERM, with its high, 1.2T, saturation induction allows the combination of high modulation and exceptional power density with low core losses and extended temperature range up to 120 degrees C to minimize volume and maximize operating efficiency.

VAC also supplies cut cores of nanocrystalline VITROPERM for use in transformers with higher outputs. Highly compact, low-loss and low-noise transformers can be designed on this basis. VITROPERM‘s ultra-low magnetostriction virtually eliminates the main cause of noise emissions. Cut cores impregnated with resins are suitable for operation at temperatures of 105 degrees C and higher.

The “Cores for Power Transformers” sample kit, comprising ten tape-wound cores and one cut core, is available for customers to conduct their own trials of the VITROPERM nanocrystalline cores.
