Power-One Unveils New Front-End AC-DC Power Supply

New Products Oct 23, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One, Inc. introduced the hot-swappable FNP1000-48 front-end. This ac-dc power supply provides 48Vdc at 21A, 88% efficiency, and 16.1W/in3; enabling delivery of 5,000W from a low-profile 1U-high shelf to power server, telecom, and datacom applications.

The FNP1000-48 reports operational status via front-panel LEDs, logic signals, and an I2C interface. The I2C interface can also be used to enable the front-end, set output voltage, and control fan speed. Additional features include a 12Vdc at 0.5A standby output, a wide 90-264Vac input range, internal ORing FETs and diodes, and an ultra-compact 11.74 x 3.30 x 1.6 inches (298.2 x 83.8 x 40.6mm) package. Protections include: output overvoltage, output overcurrent, and overtemperature.

The FNP1000-48 is designed to meet international safety standards and displays the CE mark for the European Low Voltage Directive (LVD). This product is available in RoHS six-substance, and lead-solder-exemption, compliant versions.

Pricing is $400 each in quantities of 100. Evaluation models are usually available from stock. Production quantities are typically available in four to six weeks.
