Power-One Releases New 700W DC-DC Converter for RF Amplifier Applications

December 13, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Power-One, Inc. introduced the FBA48T25280 dc-dc converter, providing a 25A, user-adjustable 16.8 – 32.2V output. This full brick is said to combine high efficiencies (exceeding 92%) with advanced thermal management techniques to deliver 126W/c.i. power densities and reduced current deratings in elevated ambient temperature RF amplifier applications.

Additional features include: active current sharing enables load sharing within ±10%, remote-differential output-voltage sense, -40 to 100°C operating temperature range, 36 – 75V input range, 7 – 9V @ 20mA auxiliary output, Output-Good signal, capability to start-up into pre-biased loads, and an on-board input differential LC-filter. Protections include input undervoltage lockout, output overvoltage and overcurrent, and overtemperature.

The FBA48T25280 utilizes an industry-standard full-brick footprint (2.4 x 4.6", 61 x 117mm) and a low profile 0.5" (12.7mm) height. RoHS lead-free and lead-solder exempted versions are available. All materials meet the UL94, V-0 flammability rating.

Pricing is $70 each in quantities of 1000. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks.
