Phihong Midspans Now Available Direct From Web

Phihong USA announced that it is making its full line of midspans available for purchase via the company's Web site.

"By allowing our customers to order directly from the Web, we not only offer faster delivery times, but we can offer our products at extremely affordable prices because we've cut out the middleman," said Keith Hopwood, Vice President of Marketing for Phihong USA. "Unlike other suppliers of Midspans, Phihong designs, manufactures and sells its own products, so pricing isn't driven up to cover the expenses of several companies involved throughout the design, manufacture and selling process."

The cost of implementing PoE using midspans was almost as high as replacing the network switch until Phihong developed a product family that significantly reduced upgrade costs to existing enterprise installations. The Phihong midspans also eliminate the need for installers or systems administrators to prioritize who gets power and who doesn't. The Phihong midspan powers all ports to full power specification limits of IEEE802.3af upon start-up, so there is no decision or configuration required. These products just plug and go, also reducing installation and management costs.

The multi-port midspans feature IEEE802.3af detection, disconnect and overload protection, and offer Cisco legacy detection without the need of external dongles, as well as an optional SNMP management port. Each product is provided with a graphics user interface (GUI) for diagnostics or remote control.

The Phihong midspans are CE and cUL approved and meet all worldwide EMC requirements. All of Phihong's midspans are RoHS compliant. Phihong's midspans are available in single-, 8-, 16- and 24-port versions. Pricing for the 24-port midspans is $495 for one piece and orders via the Web can be delivered from stock to 8 weeks.
