New Products Nov 05, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Phihong USA has introduced an 80W, single-port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) adapter. Designated the POE80U, the high-power, single-port adapter provides up to 80W of power on a single Ethernet port, making it suitable for powering satellite receivers, video conferencing systems, access points, LCD displays, security cameras, kiosks and computer workstations.

"The POE80U is designed to meet the criteria set by IEEE802.3 PoE and to handle the high connection power the single port provides," said Keith Hopwood, VP of Marketing, Phihong USA. "This Ultra PoE device enables high power to be delivered outside, on the top of a pole or in other challenging locations without having to run ac power to the location."

The POE80U provides fully compliant detection, disconnect and voltage control. The adapter is Gigabit-compatible, incorporates diagnostic LEDs and has single-source, 4-pair power current sharing. Other features include over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit protection.

Typical pricing for Phihong’s POE80U single-port adapter is $63.86 each in OEM quantities.
